President Obama was recently outmaneurvered on gun rights in the U.S. Senate by a fellow Democrat, Senator Harry Reid, who is in a life and death political struggle to get re-elected in Nevada next year.
You see, Harry Reid needs the pro-gun vote to get re-elected in Nevada and enlisted help from Virginia senator Jim Webb to force a vote on Republican Senator Coburn’s repeal of the National Park Gun Ban.
Senator Reid attached it as an amendment onto President Obama’s must-pass, high-priority credit card reform bill.
Senator Webb then argued for the pro-gun amendment on the senate floor.
President Obama had little choice but to sign it and come back to avenge his loss another day.
This demonstrates why it’s important to pressure Democrats from pro-gun swing states and districts. They cannot afford to risk being wrong in a head to head fight on a gun issue.
Clearly, Virginia is a pro-gun swing state and we must maintain the pressure.
So, with Democrats in office who fear angering gunowners, how will President Obama deliver on his gun control agenda?
He will try and outmaneurvered gun owners using three possible strategies:
> He will use the bureaucratic regulatory process, which is how we got the National Park Gun Ban to begin with, or
> He will will hide gun control in larger bills dealing with other issues like health care, or
> He will use international treaties.
In this email, I will focus on the immediate danger of CRC, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which President Obama made a major push to pass just this last week.
Please read the analysis of the CRC treaty by constitutional lawyer Michael Farris below and then call Senators Webb and Warner and urge them to vote NO on the U.N. CRC Treaty.
Many different issue advocacy groups oppose turning the sovereignty of family life and how to raise children over to the United Nations and giving children the right to appeal directly to the United Nations.
If gun owners can join the fight to stop CRC for 2nd Amendment reasons we just might be able to stop this outrageous attack on our liberties, our gun rights, and the sovereignty of the United States.
Call Senator Webb at 202 224 4024 and tell him to vote NO on the Convention on the Rights of Children.
Call Senator Warner at 202 224 2023 and tell him to vote NO on the Convention on the Rights of Children.
